Boise Family Photos

Boise Family Photographer | The E Family

I spent a wonderful morning with this sweet little family in Boise. It was a cold, crisp morning, the sun was out shining it’s beautiful light, and I had such a great time behind the camera with these guys. We snuck outside for a few minutes, I couldn’t resist the beautiful backlight, and all that dreamy lens flare, it’s amazing that in 14 years of being a “professional” photographer, I’ve never gotten tired of lens flare.

As I edited these photos, I was struck by what it’ll be like for this little baby to look at these some day. That thought gave these photos a bit more meaning for me, because my hope is that he’ll be able to look back and see all the love that his parents had for him from the very beginning of his life. The older I get, and with being a dad, being able to look back and understand the past is something that I think is really important for all of us, and I’m honored to be able to document these stories.

E family, thank you for hiring me and spending the morning with me.

Boise Family Photographer | The L Family

Michelle DM’d me on Instagram several months ago asking me how we liked living in Boise, I replied that we absolutely love it (if you’ve talked to me lately about Boise you know how obsessed with it I am and how much I love living here, I mean come on, I can mountain bike from my house, doesn’t get better than that). I met up with her and her family behind Camel’s Back in the Hulls Gulch area. The Desert colors were beautiful and the sun was out, and I had such a fun time wandering around with this family.

Thanks so much for hiring me L Family, so great meeting you three!

Boise Family Photographer | Hulls Gulch

I had a blast with the L family, exploring the Hulls Gulch Foothills area on a beautiful Saturday morning in Boise. This is such a sweet family and it was so much fun to capture the joy and connection that they have with each other. The photos of Weston (the little boy) with the stick are some of my favorite photos ever, I think they really capture the joy of little boys with sticks (and whacking people with sticks :))

If you’ve been following me on Instagram, this is the shoot that I rode the lime scooter home (over 7 miles, 70 minutes) from with all of my gear, which was such a blast, I felt like I must’ve looked so hilarious, in nice clothes, with a huge backpack on and a cowboy hat, on a lime scooter :).

I’ve said this before, but photographing families is extremely rewarding for me. As a dad I know how much the photos of your kids mean to parents, and how quickly kids change and grow up. Every time I post a blog post and share the final gallery with parents, I’m so excited for them to see the photos of their family and kids just being themselves. I hope it helps people see the beauty in their family and relationships.

Thank you for hiring me L family and for the wonderful morning. Happy Friday, hope everyone’s weekend is great.
