Castaway Portland Wedding | Rachelle + Will

I have photographed lots of weddings at Castaway in Northwest Portland, it's a really fun venue, I love the textures, the warmth of the wood, the way the light comes in the windows.  Rachelle and Will's wedding showcased the venue so well and the venue worked so well for their wedding which was laid back, warm and full of laughter.  I had a lot of fun telling the story of their wedding day with my camera, and here it is...

Boise Foothills Engagement Photos | Johanna + Sebastian

The Boise foothills are such a gorgeous place for engagement photos.  As I scouted the area I was in love with the textures and shapes, and the way the sunlight reflects off of the light desert terrain.  We happened to catch a window between rainstorms, which meant that the colors were dark and rich, but we didn't have to worry about our hair, which as a bald man is a huge concern for me.

I'm so looking forward to being Johanna and Sebastian's wedding photographer next year at their wedding at Willowbrook a new venue to the Boise area.  I'm also looking forward to working with Heidi Wight and her team at Ira and Lucy.

The Colony St Johns Wedding Photos | Emily + Josh

I don't do a lot of posing, because I want natural, honest photos.  But also when you point a camera at people, you have to tell them something, or they will whisper to each other about not knowing what to do with their hands.  They will look uncomfortable in the pictures, because they are uncomfortable. 

I'm going to call what I do "posing sensitively".  It's an art, it takes atune-ment, intuition and trust.  There's no formula, it varies with each person/persons in front of the camera. However, Emily and Josh have their own magic.  Basically I got them near each other, and you'll see below what happened.  It's inspiring to be around a couple with such a strong connection, and ease with one another.
